The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) at Galveston, a leading academic health sciences center located on the Texas Gulf Coast, is searching for a motivated, enthusiastic educator to join our Office of Educational Development as a Senior Medical Educator with primary responsibilities for curriculum evaluation and educational research support. The ideal candidate for this position will have a doctoral degree in education, psychology or a related field and two years experience in medical/health professions education. Specialized preparation and experience are desired in principles of research design, quantitative data analysis techniques, and psychometric/measurement principles. Knowledge of one or more statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS) and evidence of substantial responsibility for educational program evaluation are preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment are required.
Minimum qualifications for this position include:
Ed.D. or Ph.D. in education, psychology or a related field
Two years experience in medical/health professions education
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
• Ability to apply knowledge of research design and quantitative data analysis
• Working knowledge of one or more statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, SAS)
• One or more years experience involving substantial responsibility for educational program evaluation
• Ability to apply basic psychometric / measurement principles
• Ability to teach basic concepts in research design, quantitative data analysis, and educational evaluation
