This is a non-tenure track position funded by grants and renewable annually,
subject to continued funding and satisfactory performance. The Research
Associate will work directly with the Director, Gerald Tindal, Ph.D., and
the Director for Research Projects, Leanne Ketterlin Geller, Ph.D., and
collaborate with other researchers at BRT. Behavioral Research and Teaching
(BRT) is an externally funded research center that conducts studies on an
array of issues related to academic standards and large-scale assessment
systems. BRT is committed to improving the educational environment for all
students by developing trustworthy assessment and information systems to
support meaningful learning opportunities for students in K-12 classrooms.
BRT works with government agencies and academic institutions in designing,
validating, and implementing information systems with these primary goals:

1. Improve basic skills assessments to monitor progress in reading,
writing, and mathematics for a wide range of students.
2. Enhance learning of middle and secondary content subject matter so
that all students have the opportunity to develop a broad knowledge base.
3. Provide accessibility to large-scale testing through accommodations
and alternate assessment systems so that all students can demonstrate their
proficiencies on standards.

Duties/Responsibilities: Develop items and tests, including computer-based
assessments delivered across a variety of platforms. Conduct validation
studies of new and existing assessment systems. Conduct statistical
analyses, write reports and proposals, and give presentations. Develop and
maintain effective relationships with local, regional, state, and education
agencies on a range of assessment and accountability issues. Contribute to
organization governance and operations.

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Educational Psychology, Special Education
or related fields. Expertise in measurement and evaluation methodologies,
classroom-based assessment systems, and large-scale testing programs.
Demonstrated research skills in measurement of academic performance and
progress of students in K-12 settings, instrument development, and
quasi-experimental and evaluation methodologies as well as statistical
analytic techniques. Skills in evaluation of program effectiveness with
ability to incorporate data analytic procedures appropriate for diverse
populations into research, coursework, and professional training. Experience
in, or familiarity with, K-12 school systems with an emphasis on the
relationship between academic achievement on large-scale and classroom
assessment systems. Record of scholarly contributions to the professional
literature, ability to secure external funding to support the goals of BRT,
or demonstrated potential in these areas. Ability to work effectively with
individuals from diverse backgrounds; collaborate with colleagues in other
departments; and work effectively with local, regional, and state
educational agencies.

Salary: $45,000-$55,000 (1.0) based on qualifications and experience.

St. Anselm - Director of Institutional Research

Director of Institutional Research

The Director will play a vital role in the success of goals and initiatives of the college by providing the college with accurate data upon which to base decisions. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, this person will lead and manage the collection and assessment of college data in collaboration with a wide range of academic and non-academic areas. Responsibilities will include designing and implementing internal research and assessment projects, analyzing trends, benchmarking performance and monitoring progress in key areas. This individual will serve as a consultant for research and assessment to various departments and will report on outcomes in a manner that will support decision making and implementation of the college’s goals. The Director will also manage compliance relative to state, federal and accrediting data reporting requirements. Leading the Assessment Coordinator, the Director will coordinate projects while ensuring adherence to deadlines, as well as ensuring accurate recordkeeping and appropriate distribution and use of data, surveys and the like.

A Master’s degree in social/behavioral sciences, statistics, educational research or related discipline is required; Ph.D. strongly preferred; 3-5 years of experience in research design and/or relevant experience required. Must have knowledge of quantitative/qualitative research methods, with ability to make projections from available data sources. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills with ability to convey complex, mathematical ideas to non-mathematically-inclined people; discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Strong information technology literacy skills are required, including use of spreadsheets, statistical packages, MS Access, graphic/presentation software, along with familiarity with relational database systems. Experience in higher education is strongly desired. The successful candidate will be able to assist the college to further its strategic goals for institution-wide diversity.
