Director of Institutional Research

The Director will play a vital role in the success of goals and initiatives of the college by providing the college with accurate data upon which to base decisions. Reporting to the Executive Vice President, this person will lead and manage the collection and assessment of college data in collaboration with a wide range of academic and non-academic areas. Responsibilities will include designing and implementing internal research and assessment projects, analyzing trends, benchmarking performance and monitoring progress in key areas. This individual will serve as a consultant for research and assessment to various departments and will report on outcomes in a manner that will support decision making and implementation of the college’s goals. The Director will also manage compliance relative to state, federal and accrediting data reporting requirements. Leading the Assessment Coordinator, the Director will coordinate projects while ensuring adherence to deadlines, as well as ensuring accurate recordkeeping and appropriate distribution and use of data, surveys and the like.

A Master’s degree in social/behavioral sciences, statistics, educational research or related discipline is required; Ph.D. strongly preferred; 3-5 years of experience in research design and/or relevant experience required. Must have knowledge of quantitative/qualitative research methods, with ability to make projections from available data sources. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management and communication skills with ability to convey complex, mathematical ideas to non-mathematically-inclined people; discretion and ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Strong information technology literacy skills are required, including use of spreadsheets, statistical packages, MS Access, graphic/presentation software, along with familiarity with relational database systems. Experience in higher education is strongly desired. The successful candidate will be able to assist the college to further its strategic goals for institution-wide diversity.
