The University of Houston (UH) is an urban, public university with a total enrollment of over 36,000 students and an annual operating budget of $700 million. A Doctoral/Research Extensive institution, we are the flagship of the University of Houston System which is comprised of four universities with a total enrollment of over 56,000 students and a total endowment of approximately $600 million. Under the inspired leadership of new Chancellor Renu Khator, UH is launching the most ambitious development campaign in its history to support ongoing efforts to recruit and support faculty and graduate students of the highest quality from around the world, significantly expand our state of the art classroom and research space, and transform our campus into the premier urban residential campus in the country.

DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY

The Department offers Ph.D. programs in Counseling Psychology, Educational Psychology and Individual Differences, and School Psychology. The counseling psychology is accredited by the American Psychological Association. We are also developing a Ph.D. program in Higher Education and Policy Studies. Leadership and faculty scholarly productivity in all four programs is exceptionally strong. Our faculty hold editorships of two leading research journals and many have been honored with national level research and leadership awards. The department hosts three university-based research and service centers, and we enjoy extraordinary opportunities to participate in interdisciplinary research projects with other faculty and researchers and to collaborate with more than a hundred school districts and community colleges in the Greater Gulf Coast region. With the world’s largest medical research complex, the Texas Medical Center, just two miles from campus, our faculty and students also have access to unmatched opportunities for conducting research and supervised clinical training.

QUALIFICATIONS

We seek a Chairperson with the experience, vision, and leadership capacity to further strengthen our degree programs and research productivity. The successful candidate will have immediate opportunities to strategically add to and strengthen our faculty ranks. Preference will be given to applicants eligible for appointment as a Full Professor and who possess an accomplished record of funded research activity. This position reports directly to the Dean of the College of Education. Salary is open.
