RESEARCH ANALYST NEEDED FOR SYSTEMATIC REVIEW OF MEASURES USED IN CHILDHOOD OBESITY RESEARCH


Mathematica Policy Research, Inc. is seeking several part-time research analysts for a project to review the research literature on measures used to assess food and physical activity (built) environments and diet and physical activity in children. These positions are temporary consulting positions and do not include benefits.

Research analysts will be responsible for reviewing journal articles and using a standardized form to abstract results from articles, such as the type of methodology used and the results of psychometric testing. Candidates should be organized, detail-oriented, self-motivated, and have excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Additional qualifications include:

• Master’s or PhD (completed or in progress) in measurement and evaluation, nutrition, public health, or other social sciences
• Prior experience with conducting literature reviews, especially reviews focused on nutrition or physical activity
• Knowledge of methods for assessing reliability and validity of research instruments is desirable, but not required


The positions will start immediately and training will be provided. Applicants must pass a certification after the training in order to continue in the position. The positions require a minimum commitment of 18-20 hours per week. Scheduling is flexible and evening and weekend hours are possible. The positions are located in our Cambridge office (955 Massachusetts Avenue).
