Duties And Responsibilities
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Research Director guides formative, summative, and
collaborative action research for WIDE. WIDE World offers research-based online professional
development courses for educators in the US and around the world to align and improve
performance of students, teachers, coaches, leaders, and systems. The Research Director is
part of the Leadership team that defines and advances WIDE's mission.
Develop and coordinate a comprehensive, multi-faceted research program using multiple
methods to assess and promote program quality and impact; direct a team of researchers in
research design, data collection, analysis, and dissemination of results to inform multiple
audiences; build research-related relationships with multiple constituencies, e.g., clients, funders
& educational researchers; promote continuous learning of WIDE staff around research and best
practices on online professional development, instructional leadership & systemic change; help
develop innovative offerings that connect research with WIDE's programs, e.g. evaluation
consulting & online collaborative action research. This is a term position with an end date of
December 31, 2008 with a likelihood of continuation.

Required Education, Experience And Skills
BASIC REQUIREMENTS: Doctorate in education, psychology, or related field; 5+ years
experience using mixed methods of online research & action research in academic settings.
Competency using technology for research & presentation. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to lead multiple projects collegially under strict deadlines with minimal supervision.
Excellent analytic, written & oral communication, leadership, and teamwork skills. Ability to read
Spanish, Chinese, and/or Arabic is desireable, but not required

The Director of Evaluation and Data Services will:
• Lead a team of PCG-CRM staff and consultants in designing, refining, and delivering evaluation and data use services to clients that include school districts, state agencies, foundations, and other education organizations
• Prepare proposals for services and responses to RFPs, and make presentations to potential clients
• Serve as Project Director of major program evaluation initiatives
• Pursue opportunities to build the awareness and credibility of PCG-CRM’s Evaluation and Data Use Services among leaders at the local, state, and national levels
• Develop marketing plans in collaboration with the PCG-CRM Executive Director and PCG Managers and respond to opportunities created through PCG Managers’ marketing and client relationships
• Participate on the PCG-CRM Management Team to integrate evaluation and data services with literacy services
Qualifications
• Doctorate in education, including coursework in program evaluation
• Experience in facilitating the use of assessment and other data by district and school teams
• Knowledge of multiple types of assessments
• Experience designing and directing evaluations of at least $100,000 in scope
• Familiarity with current evaluation concepts and methodologies, particularly quantitative analyses and growth models
• Excellent presentation and interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing skills and expertise in analyzing data and summarizing results for easy understanding by educational decision-makers
• Entrepreneurial interests and a business orientation

Children’s Research Triangle (CRT)

Children’s Research Triangle (CRT) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that evaluates and treats high risk children, many of whom have been prenatally exposed to drugs and alcohol. CRT also carries out research which is supported by a variety of federal and foundation grants

Currently, CRT’s research team is directed by a full-time licensed clinical psychologist. There are two full-time paid research assistants, and one paid graduate assistant. We also have an undergraduate research internship program in which undergraduates from universities in the Chicago area volunteer between 6 to 20 hours a week helping with research related tasks such as data input, data cleaning, scoring, etc.

The CRT research team has a job opening for a masters level trained program evaluator who is interested in clinically oriented program evaluation that is child-centered. This position is funded for one year but may be extended contingent on grant funding.


Job Description: The program evaluator will be involved in multiple ongoing projects:

§ a CDC funded outcome study of a group therapy program for school age children who were prenatally exposed to substances,

§ program evaluation of a newly formed clinic in southern Illinois that will offer evaluation and treatment services to children who have been prenatally or environmentally exposed to methamphetamines or other substances of abuse,

§ development of a database about children 0 to 18 who have been assessed and treated at the Child Study Center, the clinic at CRT,

§ an MCHB funded evaluation study of a training program for health professionals learning to screen women for substance use during pregnancy and children for fetal alcohol spectrum disorders,

§ program evaluation of clinical interventions funded by private foundations,

§ grant writing of new proposals that are consistent with CRT’s mission.

Much of the job will involve management of various grants and projects. Data analysis will be incorporated into the position as the individual’s training and interests dictate.

Funding for the position is reliant on grant money. One year of funding has been secured at this time.

Qualifications:

* Completion of a masters level training program with a concentration in program evaluation.
* Previous experience conducting program evaluation/empirical research.
* The ability to work well with other people in a team oriented atmosphere.

Compensation: $35,000 for one year plus benefits, including a dental and medical package, paid holiday, vacation, and sick leave.

This unique position combines the role of 1) Educational Evaluation Analysis with 2) Program Evaluation. Analysis: Conduct and manage the analyses of data related to educational program evaluation and institutional research used for accreditation and ongoing institutional improvement by deans and faculty in the school of dental medicine.
