GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the general direction of the Senior Director for Research and Evaluation or designee, the Educational Specialist III is responsible for working with Medical School faculty on the design, scoring and validation of tests, surveys, course evaluations, statistical analysis and educational research studies, with a focus on assessment methods beyond testing, to include self assessment, peer-review, portfolio development and other contemporary forms of learner assessment. RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Advise faculty in the design, scoring and validation of instruments (i.e., tests, or surveys for evaluating students, residents and faculty). 2. Report results and recommendations of improvement as appropriate. 3. Work directly with faculty to design measurement and evaluation methods and provide statistical analysis. 4. Offer assistance to colleagues on technical issues related to education support. 5. Collaborate with Medical School faculty to design evaluation and measurement techniques and conduct original research in medical education. 6. Make presentations to professional organizations. 7. Teach faculty and community physicians. 8. Promote research in a collegial manner on educational issues. 9. Make educational or informational presentations as required. 10. Perform other duties as requested Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in education, psychology or equivalent. **Master's degree preferred** 5 years experience in educational measurement and evaluation, instructional technology in higher education setting. Demonstrated ability in all aspects of contemporary assessment methods. Knowledge of quantitative methods and computer applications essential.
