COORDINATOR, ASSESSMENT

Report to the Assistant Provost in the following areas:

Serve as consultant/advisor to units, colleges, departments, and programs on use of assessment to improve student learning and assure compliance with the assessment requirements of accrediting organizations.

Daily management of University of Miami Academic and Non-Academic Program Assessment process, to include
Collect, analyze and maintain assessment submissions;
Facilitate communication and scheduling for assessment with various UM constituencies, including deans and program contacts;
Collaborate with faculty and academic leadership to identify program outcomes and measures to evaluate student learning, analyzing data from current assessment efforts and working with faculty to identify and expedite necessary improvements.

Upload, maintain, and manage access to assessment documents via UM’s assessment website.

Provide statistical and research study design support relating to SACS and assessment:
Research and report information on specific issues to the Assistant Provost;
Perform comparative analyses with national data resources;
Collaborate with Planning and Institutional Research to collect data, assess trends and develop evaluation tools to support SACS and assessment.

Develop and prepare written and web-based reports for both internal and external constituents for the purposes of describing, documenting, and publishing institutional information and measures of effectiveness.

Keep current on assessment research and best practices.

Work collaboratively with faculty, administrators and departments, under the guidance of the Assistant Provost.

Other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Doctorate in higher education, assessment, social sciences, or a related field and 3 years experience in higher education.

Wingate University

Wingate University School of Graduate and Adult Studies

New program in Educational Leadership ( EdD) this fall. Looking for an individual that would serve in a tenure track position. This position is designed so that the individual would be working with doctoral students in their research activity for their dissertations and to teach in the research block of the coursework. Harvard's Center for International Development

Harvard's Center for International Development is launching The Entrepreneurial Finance Lab (EFL), which will develop technology to identify high-potential entrepreneurs for loans & training in developing countries using psychometrics. We are looking for a doctoral student in psychology, business administration, or related field to fill an exciting part-time position as the EFL's in-house psychometrician. The candidate would assist the Director & PI in the revision and expansion of our battery of tests, coordinate the Lab's network of researchers in academia and industry, and help analyze data from pilot projects. There may be opportunities for the candidate to use this original data for their own research. The desired qualifications are past research and a keen experience in psychometrics/entrepreneurship/organizational psychology, and advanced training in statistics. The applicant should be able to meet certification requirements for test providers (for example, the qualification level detailed below). Florida State University

One-year instructional position in Measurement and Statistics
Florida State University's College of Education

This would be an ideal position for a new Ph.D. who is finishing late in the year (after the typical spring job-application season), or for someone on a sabbatical (or a potential retiree) wanting to enjoy some of our Florida sunshine!

The position is for full-time teaching for two terms with a possible summer 2009 appointment if that is of interest. It would begin with the Fall term of 2008 with an expected start date of August 15 (though classes begin on August 25).

The position requires a completed Ph.D. degree by the starting date of the appointment.Our program offers both introductory courses and also advanced courses in measurement and statistics to graduate students in education, communication, social work and also business.

Likely assignments would be to teach components of the introductory sequence (including basic statistics, linear models, and analysis of variance), with possible advanced coursework offerings if that would be of interest.

Job Description:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The Institutional Research Associate is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing and communicating research and data for the purposes of institutional reporting, planning and performance improvement. The incumbent holds major responsibility for maintaining, accessing and analyzing data for required state and federal reporting. The IR Associate serves as a resource for statistical analyses and understands research ethics and issues of data confidentiality. The IR Associate works independently under the guidance of the Director of Assessment and Institutional Research. The position is a fulltime position (35 regularly scheduled hours).
Requirements:REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS: Master's degree in a quantitative research field required; 1-3 years experience in institutional research or other relevant higher education management experience. Job Description: Data Analytics Programmer Analyst
GENERAL CLASSSIFICATION DESCRIPTION:
Support the programming and analytics needs of MITs fundraising initiatives. Employ data mining,
predictive modeling, survey design, and statistical techniques to help identify, classify, understand and
cultivate prospects capable of making philanthropic contributions to and serving in volunteer capacities
for MIT.
Characteristic Duties
Retrieve, query and append data from internal databases and external data sources such as electronic
screening services, census records, surveys, focus groups, demographic studies, etc. and use various
software tools (SPSS, ArcGIS, etc.) to analyze and present the data relative to specific development
needs.
Work as a member of the programming team to analyze client information systems problems, determine
viable alternatives, design solutions when applicable and develop specifications to meet those needs.
Serve as a member of the Data Analytics Committee and assist in the identification of relevant topics
and issues to be examined.
Programming:
• Analyze client information systems problems and determine their needs
• Define viable alternative solutions to client information system problems
• Design systems solutions and develop the specifications to meet the needs of the clients
• Ensure that the testing of new or modified programs is thorough and correct
• Document new programs or modifications to existing programs according to departmental
standards

Data Mining, Modeling, Statistical Analysis and Reporting:

supervision from the assigned project leader when applicable.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:
May function as project leader and/or exercise functional supervision over one or more other staff
members.
CONTACTS REQUIRED TO PERFORM DUTIES:
Frequent contact with clients, other team members, area managers and other members of the department.
Also with users and more junior IS staff with systems problems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of three-years SQL programming
• Minimum of three years in fundraising, market research and/or relevant experience desirable
• Proficiency and understanding of data mapping, data mining and statistical software tools
• Proven research and analytical techniques, emphasizing the ability to gather, evaluate and synthesize
complex sets of data from various sources
• Knowledge of Sungard Advance, Advance Web, Crystal Reports very desirable
• Ability to present information in a clear and cohesive manner
• Ability to present technical information to non-technical users
• Ability to work in a collaborative team environment
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities and meet challenging and changing deadlines
• High degree of professionalism, discretion and commitment to confidentiality
