Associate Director position open at Tufts PACE Center

The Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) seeks an individual with expertise in designing and implementing research projects, including managing research teams, who possesses superior interpersonal and communication skills to fill its available Associate Director position. The Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) is a grant funded research center which conducts research on education and assessment. The Center is directed by Robert J. Sternberg, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and his theories provide the conceptual framework for many of the Center's projects. Currently funded projects include such diverse studies as work with the Tufts Admissions office, development of assessments of leadership skills, and elementary-school science curriculum development and evaluation. The PACE Center shares office space and support personnel with Tufts Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT).
The Associate Director, Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) will mainly be responsible for:
Developing and securing funding for new research projects, including writing grant proposals in response to calls from federal organizations (e.g., NSF, IES, ARI) and private foundations;
Supervising the successful completion of current research projects, including directing curriculum development, teacher training, assessment design and validation, data analysis, and writing up results for publication;
Managing current grants, including managing budgets and IRB approvals, writing progress reports, and presenting results to funders;
Managing personnel, currently including part time administrative and research support, and a PhD level researcher;
Maintaining and establishing further contacts with research collaborators, including colleagues at Tufts, local school district administrators, international visitors, and potential future collaborators contacting the Center's director.
Basic Requirements:
PhD in psychology, measurement, or a related field; or EdD
Minimum of five years of research in a related field
Basic office software, some statistical software
Published research publications
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience securing research funding, preferably some experience with the major federal funding organizations is highly valuable.
Previous knowledge of R.J. Sternberg's theories is a plus.
Previous experience managing personnel at different levels of education is desirable.
A candidate with excellent interpersonal skills is strongly preferred.
