The Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) has retained Sockwell Partners to assist in their search for a Content and Design Manager. NWEA is a national non-profit organization dedicated to helping all children learn. NWEA provides research-based computer adaptive testing, professional training, and consulting services that improve teaching and learning nationwide.

Founded in 1977, NWEA (www.nwea.org) has more than 250 employees and revenues in excess of $50MM. It partners with more than 3,100 school districts and has administered more than 24,000,000 student assessments. NWEA's Growth Research Database is the largest repository of student test results in the United States. NWEA is headquartered in Portland, Oregon.

Reporting to the Director of Test Services, the successful candidate will ensure the content validity of all NWEA items and tests, as well as the integrity of state and district alignments across the country. He/she will manage 12 Content Specialists (some remote) and work closely with the Test Development team as well as with external state and district partners.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

* at least five to ten years of educational test development, curriculum design/management, assessment and/or measurement experience; ability to align NWEA test items to multiple state and district standards;
* demonstrated management experience; a bent for taking responsibility, mentoring others, and collaborative problem solving; the self-confidence, integrity, intellect, and follow through that inspire trust;
* strong communications and interpersonal skills; someone who can build strong partnerships and credibility at all levels within the organization and externally;
* excellent project management skills; the ability to balance and prioritize multiple initiatives, timetables and relationships;
* passion for kids and the difference that teaching and learning can make;
* high energy level; sense of humor;
* master's degree in curriculum, instruction or a subject area is preferred; relevant experience can be considered in lieu of a graduate degree.
