The Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut invites
applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the Measurement,
Evaluation, and Assessment Program at the rank of Assistant or Associate
Professor.

Responsibilities of the position include teaching courses in program
evaluation, educational research methods at introductory and advanced
levels, survey research design, advanced topics in evaluation, and a
doctoral seminar in an area of interest. The successful candidate must
also be able to teach introductory statistics courses. Additional

Candidates should have a background in educational measurement,

ASSISTANT OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY (QUANTITATIVE METHODS)
The Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison seeks applicants for a tenure track faculty position in the Quantitative Methods Area at the Assistant or Associate Professor level. We are seeking candidates with an earned doctorate in Educational Psychology, Psychology, Statistics, or related fields with a specialization in quantitative methods. Preferred applicants should have a strong research program in quantitative methodology relevant to issues in education and the social and behavioral sciences. Responsibilities include teaching graduate level courses, conducting and publishing research, satisfying the service expectations of the department and university, as well as collaborating with faculty on research design and statistical analysis. The Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) seeks an individual with expertise in designing and implementing research projects, including managing research teams, who possesses superior interpersonal and communication skills to fill its available Associate Director position. The Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) is a grant funded research center which conducts research on education and assessment. The Center is directed by Robert J. Sternberg, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences, and his theories provide the conceptual framework for many of the Center's projects. Currently funded projects include such diverse studies as work with the Tufts Admissions office, development of assessments of leadership skills, and elementary-school science curriculum development and evaluation. The PACE Center shares office space and support personnel with Tufts Center for the Enhancement of Learning and Teaching (CELT).
The Associate Director, Center for the Psychology of Abilities, Competencies, and Expertise (PACE) will mainly be responsible for:
Developing and securing funding for new research projects, including writing grant proposals in response to calls from federal organizations (e.g., NSF, IES, ARI) and private foundations;
Supervising the successful completion of current research projects, including directing curriculum development, teacher training, assessment design and validation, data analysis, and writing up results for publication;
Managing current grants, including managing budgets and IRB approvals, writing progress reports, and presenting results to funders;
Managing personnel, currently including part time administrative and research support, and a PhD level researcher;
Maintaining and establishing further contacts with research collaborators, including colleagues at Tufts, local school district administrators, international visitors, and potential future collaborators contacting the Center's director.
Basic Requirements:
PhD in psychology, measurement, or a related field; or EdD
Minimum of five years of research in a related field
Basic office software, some statistical software
Published research publications
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience securing research funding, preferably some experience with the major federal funding organizations is highly valuable.
Previous knowledge of R.J. Sternberg's theories is a plus.
Previous experience managing personnel at different levels of education is desirable.
A candidate with excellent interpersonal skills is strongly preferred.

PACE seeks an individual with expertise in assessment development and validation and statistical analysis as well as excellent project management skills to fill its available Senior Researcher position.

The Senior Researcher will work on research projects focused on the Tufts undergraduate education and will be involved in designing, administering and analyzing assessments to evaluate and monitor students' growth throughout their undergraduate experience. Specifically, the successful candidate will be managing the Kaleidoscope and IMPACTS projects described on the PACE website.

Specific responsibilities include:
Refining scoring rubrics for the IMPACT project; supervising the collection and analysis of additional data; and designing and piloting new assessment instruments as needed;
Tracking and analyzing Kaleidoscope data; and conducting focus groups and surveys as needed to add a qualitative perspective to the database provided through the institution;
Supervising research assistants and students involved in the project (for data collection and data cleaning);
Writing up results for internal and external dissemination;
Contributing to grant writing and other Center-wide activities.
Basic Requirements:
This position requires a PhD and proficiency with software for high level statistical analyses.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience as a researcher is preferred. Experience with publications and presentations at professional conferences, and grant writing experience is desired.

This position is a one-year limited appointment, with the expectation of a renewal based on satisfactory performance.

UMass Boston - Center for Social Development and Education

JOB POSTING

General Summary of Position:

The UMass Boston/Special Olympics Global Collaborating Center is a research unit at the Center for Social Development and Education (CSDE). Part of the Global Collaborating Center’s mission is to carry out program evaluation for Special Olympics at the national and international levels. This position oversees the evaluation of Special Olympic’s (SO) newest federally funded project, Project Unify.
The overall purpose of project UNIFY is to promote school communities where all young people are agents of inclusion, respect, dignity and advocacy toward people with Intellectual Disabilities (ID). The demonstration program will serve as a basis for establishing a sustaining program nationally to support children, youth and young adults with ID, as they become part of the fabric of the educational community. As part of project UNIFY, today’s youth will gain knowledge, develop better attitudes and a real commitment for working on behalf of people with ID and, as a consequence, the lives of people with ID will be greatly enhanced, in school and beyond.

The Program Evaluation Manager (PEM) will be responsible for directing a national evaluation (in 30 States) that documents the successes and challenges of implementing project UNIFY and its impact on all participants, and incorporate what is learned into the program’s improvement, as well as expansion, in the remaining 20 States. As part of the evaluation this individual will be expected to travel and become familiar with Project Unify sites located across the country.
The position is funded for 2 years and may be available for a third year.

Examples of Duties:

In the first year, Project Unify will be implemented in thirty states. The PEM will be directly responsible coordinating 30 Special Olympics State Directors, as they relate to the evaluation, as well as for the supervision and training of graduate assistants who will assist in the program evaluation.
He/she will be responsible for designing the evaluation questionnaires, coordinating telephone and personal interviews, and organizing state and national mailed and web-based surveys.
He/she will also be responsible for guiding the development of the data management system for collecting, coding and analyzing data within and across state SO programs.

MinimumQualifications:

Masters in Educational Psychology or related field that involves tests and measurement and program evaluation is required, Doctorate highly preferred. Requires 3-5 years of significant research experience to include: development of surveys/questionnaires, data collection using electronic media, and supervising teams of researchers. Knowledge of and experience in questionnaire development for telephone and personal interviews as well as observation, developing survey questions, telephone interviewing and system observation. Experience in program evaluation at the State and or national level is required. Knowledge of intellectual disabilities and youth activation programming is recommended. Excellent organizational skills and writing skills required. Must have previously published in referenced journals.

Supervision Received/Exercised:
The PEM will be under the direct supervision of the Center’s Director. The PEM must be able to work independently, with little supervision.
The PEM will directly supervise 2-3 Graduate Assistants and one full time Research Assistant, all of which will be located at UMass Boston. Thus, the ability to orchestrate a very busy and complicated schedule is critical.


Salary and benefits: Starting salary range $50,000-$60,000. fully benefited. Grant funded.
