Assistant Professor (Educational Measurement and Statistics)
Department of Educational Psychology and Special Education
College of Education and Human Services

Description of Position: Assistant Professor position specializing in
Educational Measurement and Statistics.

Responsibilities:

. Provide direct instruction for undergraduate and graduate level
courses in educational measurement and statistics including advanced
seminars in a specialty area of the person's choosing.

. Advise graduate students in educational measurement and statistics
and serve on master's and doctoral degree committees.

. Maintain a record of scholarly productivity by initiating research
leading to publication in national peer-reviewed journals.

. Seek and secure external funds to sponsor research, training, and
service activities.

. Serve the public and constituencies of the department, college,
and university as approved/assigned.

Requirements of Candidates:

. This position requires a completed doctorate in educational
measurement and statistics or a related field. Applicants who have completed
all requirements except the dissertation will be considered. If official
evidence of completion of the earned doctorate requirements is not received
by August 15, 2009, the position offered will be a nine-month, term
appointment at the rank of Instructor at a lower salary than that of an
Assistant Professor.

. Candidates must demonstrate the potential for scholarly research
that leads to publication in nationally refereed journals.

. Illinois state law requires oral proficiency in the English
language.

. Preference will be given to applicants who have expertise in one
or more of the following: Structural Equation Modeling (SEM), Hierarchal
Linear Modeling (HLM), Factor Analysis, Multivariate Analysis, Longitudinal
Analysis and/or Experimental Design.

. Preference will be given candidates who have had prior university
teaching experience at either the undergraduate or graduate level or both.

. Preference will be given to candidates who have either had the
experience or can demonstrate the potential for developing extramural
funding for research projects.

Appointment and Salary:

This is a continuing tenure-track position. Appointment is on a nine-month
academic year basis. An additional summer appointment may be possible
contingent upon funding and student demand. Salary is commensurate with
experience and background. Progress in rank and salary will require
demonstrations of productivity in research, publication, teaching, and
service.

Effective Date of Employment: August 16, 2009
