The University of South Florida announces a tenure track Assistant/Associate Professor level opening in the area of Classroom Assessment to begin August 6, 2009.

Major responsibilities include: maintaining an active program of research and scholarship; securing external funding to support research and training agendas; providing instructional leadership for a multi-section undergraduate measurement course for pre-service teachers; teaching courses in measurement at the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral levels (delivered in the classroom and online); advising, supervising, and mentoring master’s and doctoral degree students; providing service to colleagues within the College, University, P-12 schools, and professional associations.

Minimum Qualifications: Earned doctorate with a major in educational measurement or related field. Graduate level coursework in the area of classroom assessment. Experience in teaching classroom assessment or measurement course(s) in teacher preparation programs. Evidence of scholarly productivity that includes a focus on issues that connect assessment, learning, and instruction. Evidence of grant funding or the potential to secure grant funding. Strong program of research and scholarly work commensurate with the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor.

Preferred Qualifications: Expertise and a research record in areas that include but are not limited to one or more of the following areas: K-12 classroom assessment practices, student progress monitoring practices, state and national educational accountability systems, testing of emergent literacy skills, assessment of second-language proficiency, assessments involving individuals with disabilities, and the application of cognitive psychology to assessment. Evidence of successful teaching experience in educational measurement, including classroom assessment, at the graduate and/or undergraduate levels. Experience with online instruction, online assessment, electronic portfolios, and the use of technology in assessment. Record of federal or other major grant funding. Record of interdisciplinary inquiry. Demonstrated experience in mentoring and in supervising thesis and dissertation research. Experience supervising graduate teaching assistants or other instructional staff. Evidence of ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in school districts, state departments of education, testing companies, or universities in the areas of measurement, research or evaluation. Knowledge of assessment related to accreditation (e.g., NCATE). Commitment to support research on issues of diversity.
