BPE is looking for an external mixed-method evaluator to assess an initiative in nine Boston schools. This initiative, the Scaffolded Apprenticeship Model (SAM), is modeled after a successful effort in New York City. In short, SAM is a sustained and intensive process of action research to improve learning for all students, particularly those who aren't currently experiencing success. After identifying the target population of students on which to focus, the principal/headmaster and school's SAM team lead their school staff in making both instructional and structural improvements until those students become successful. For the evaluation, we're interested in some process-related questions as well as some student outcome related questions.
