Position Description for Assistant Professor in Applied Measurement & Research Methodology

Department of Educational Studies
The Purdue University Department of Educational Studies (www.edst.purdue.edu) invites applications for an assistant professor (tenure-track, academic year) in Applied Measurement & Research Methodology. Qualifications include an earned doctorate in education, psychology, or statistics in the area of measurement and quantitative research methods. The successful candidate will have expertise in program evaluation, classical and modern test theories, and multivariate statistical analysis, SAS, and in some specific area in quantitative/psychometric methods, such as longitudinal designs, skills diagnosis, or large-scale assessment.

Responsibilities include publishing based on a focused program of research, pursuing external funding, teaching graduate courses, mentoring graduate students, and engaging in service activities at a variety of levels. Affiliation with the state-of-the-art Purdue University Psychometric Instruction/Investigation Laboratory
(PUPIL) is expected.

THE APPLIED MEASUREMENT AND RESEARCH METHODOLOGY specialty is a part of the Educational Psychology Program, attracts doctoral students from around the world. This program focuses on developing and applying methodologies in measurement, quantitative research, and program evaluation. Faculty and students conduct research in the areas of Modern and Classical Test Theory applications and methods, program evaluation on large scale grants, and have specialized interest in differential item functioning, applications of structural equation modeling, test/item invariance, validity, etc. The program includes associated entities, such as the Purdue University Psychometric Laboratory (PUPIL) and The Measurement Club, and several colleagues and collaborative efforts across within the education, and variety of disciplines on campus (statistics, psychology, engineering, among others).
