The Opportunity
We are searching for an experienced research analyst and research manager to lead the fulfillment of our Development Learning Collaborative’s research agenda and research products. The successful Research Director/Senior Analyst will lead a member-based, peer research consortium that brings together vice presidents, deans, and director-level administrators in development organizations at top public and private universities across the country.
As a subject-matter expert, the Research Director/ Senior Analyst will further develop and expand Eduventures’ intellectual capital in areas related to campaign strategy and planning; donor management and donor readiness; management of return on investments in staff and budgets; organization and management of principal gifts, major gifts, planned giving, and annual fund operations; and management of gift officer productivity. As a research manager, the Research Director/Senior Analyst will be responsible for building and managing a team of researchers to fulfill the Learning Collaborative’s research agenda.
Key Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Research Director/Senior Analyst role include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Preparing and executing an annual research agenda, including major investigations of the topics of greatest interest to the Development Learning Collaborative members
• Conducting qualitative and quantitative primary research to identify and analyze the key issues and trends facing development professionals
• Managing a team of researchers in execution of the research agenda
• Planning and implementing content-related aspects of member meetings
• Planning content-related aspects of campus visits to member institutions
• Representing Eduventures at third-party industry events and to the media
• Serving as a subject-matter expert and consultant to members and colleagues
Requirements
• Bachelor's degree; master’s degree or Ph.D. highly desirable – top graduate school preferred
• 10+ years of experience in hypothesis-driven research in areas including market analysis, donor analysis, financial analysis, management decision-making
• 10+ years experience conducting or leading research in a university development office
• Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills
• Well-developed client relationship management skills
• Exceptional writing and presentation skills; ability to scope and frame issues
• Experience in delivering a syndicated research agenda
• Ability to effectively disseminate information in a variety of settings
• Project management skills
• Understanding of and interest in business and policy issues in education
• An interest in working in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial company environment
• Experience at mentoring junior researchers and analysts
